Steve Radjen's Fifty4Fifty for Naomi House

Well, this is the BIG one. As the fifty4fifty name implies, I am trying to hit two BIG 50's in 2012. The first 50 will be to raise the magical sum of £50,000 for Naomi House. This Children's Hospice in Sutton Scotney provides palliative and respite care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and their families - and is a charity that I have been very proud to support both personally and as a business for the last eight years.

SR MdS - Saturday 14th April - Day Seven- 15.5km (9.7m)

A nasty sting in the MdS tail. Only 176k flat run then 11k across the Chebbi Erg dunes - the biggest sand dunes in Morocco. Crippling in over 45 deg!

SR MdS - Friday 13th April - Day Six - 42.2km (26.2m)

First an update from Thursday. I left the email tent to gail force wind, sandstom, rain, hailstorm, thunder, lightning!. Took 7 of us to hold bivo from blowing away in the strongest winds and most bizarre weather the MdS had experienced.

SR MdS - Wed &Thur 11/12th April - Day Four & Five - 81.5km (51m)

Day 4 and 5 - Combined double day stage - 81k - 51miles. Done - this double marathon stage was completed in just over 21h inc rest and feeding stops. However, I very nearly never made it. .

SR MdS - Tuesday 10th April - Day Three - 35km (22m)

Yesterday temp conf as avg of 45-50 with high of 51. Today 40-45 and windy. Today was a BLACK day.

SR MdS - Monday 9th April - Day Two - 38.5km (24m)

Day One was confirmed at avg temp of 40-45deg. Knew we were in for a suprise when told that an extra 1.5ltr of water would be given at Check Point 3.

SR MdS - Sunday 8th April - Day One - 33.8km (21.1m)

Well day one is over and at times I thought it never would be. Today went off at 9am and even by then the temperature was soaring. We had 33.8km (21 miles) to cover. For the first 20 mins I was terrified

SR Training - Sat 31st & Sun 1st April - Less than a week to go!

Its getting harder and harder to believe that there is only ONE WEEK to go! Anything I do now is going to be worthless. Training was no longer going to make any difference. However, it still is a great sanity check. So the plan for the weekend was to run....not much but run.

SR Training - Mon 26th to Fri 30th March - Two weeks to go - start to wind down

With only two weeks to go its time to start winding down on the training and start winding up on the preparation for packing and making sure I had all I needed. The week ahead was always going to be a quieter one but after so much inactivity over the last few weeks and with things feeling better I really wanted to get out and run.....but I have been then before and paid the penalty!

SR Training - Sat 24th & Sun 25th March - Shattered and exhausted but had two days and two long walk/runs on the schedule.

Even though I was feeling positive about how my shin had reacted and was feeling buoyed by Mr B's reaction I was concerned about the weekend ahead. I really wanted to get two long runs in with my back pack at full weight but I was exhausted after a very long week with very little sleep. To quit at any point would be sole destroying. I would be better off not doing them or sticking to cycling.....but that was NEVER going to happen!

CDD creative have had great meeting with Aggreko our client in Dubai. Lots to do in the coming months. 40deg+ so off to the pool to chill.
